The wellbeing of their new borns and growing babies are, whitout a doubt, the main concern of parents. A mayor issue is the care their kids receive while away from home. This is the issue we tackle with this project.

We aim to continuously provide real time information about the baby to the parents through a remote biosensonrs monitoring. Through artificial intelligence we provide activity information of the baby, such as if the baby felt or was shaken, temperature, oxygen saturation, and fever.

We have developed a bracelet to measure physiological signals form the baby such as temperature and oxygen saturation, accelerometer, and gyroscope.

The device prototype and the smartphone application are already available to detect physical danger as falling and shaking. Currently the development of algorithms to detect oxygen saturation and respirators anomalies.

By using this technology parents will be informed about their babies wellbeing at any time.

Fatigue in labor is a worldwide acknowledged cause for labor accidents in the modern industry. This is responsible for loses in both, human resources and economics. Studies parallel the the effects of fatigue in labor with those of alcohol, and there is no working environment in which a drunken worker is allow to work.

To tackle this problem we are using the internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence to find patterns associated to psychophysiological signals of workers while they work, to characterise mental and physical fatigue.

Our research in this area is being jointly conducted with Superintendency of Social Security to early detection of labor related accidents and diseases.

Gathering data remotely from psycho-physiological signals such as: Electroencephalograph (EEG), Electrocardiogram (ECG), pulse-oximetry, Electro dermal activity (EDA) among others, it is possible to predict, through machine learning tools and sensors incorporated in wearable clothing, the levels of physical and mental fatigue of the person.

Artificial Intelligence allows to objectively detect when a worker is no longer able to perform some task in real time. It will automatically raise an alarm to the supervisor who will take the necessary action to avoid incidents in the working area. This will prevent accidents and fatalities at work and economic losses that means that for the industry.

The cognitive workload is the amount of mental resources required to perform a certain task. Each person has a limited cognitive capacity and therefore the time comes when these resources are depleted, for example when trying to perform several tasks at a time.

Wickens' multiple resource model, widely accepted, raises the idea of interferences between tasks that require resources of the same type (visual, auditory, verbal, etc.). Such interference and the mental overload aforementioned decrease the efficiency in the execution of tasks, causes stress and frustration and reduces the ability to make good decisions and solve problems.

Through the measurement of the cognitive workload, it is possible to recognise in which moments a person is more saturated mentally and decide when to provide timely services at the right time.

The usefulness of these investigations on the use and saturation of the cognitive load points to the realisation of the "ubiquitous computing” concepts, which is the natural integration of technologies in daily life without interfering in an annoying way in the activities of the user.
